SLPP writes United States Assistant Secretary of States

Using his relationship with the United States of America Assistant Secretary of State, Mr. Johnnie Carson and others, the Sierra Leone People’s Party Regional Chairman, North America is busy painting a gloomy picture about the All People’s Congress ruling party in Sierra Leone. In a letter dated 17th January, 2012 Mr. Augustine Boss Fallay claimed that his party member Mr. Aziz Carew was beaten and whisked out of his house by a group of police officers who descended on him during the odd hours of the night without a Warrant and carted him away after the bye election on 14th January, 2012 following an opposition win in a council bye –elections by his party. Mr. Fallay who was spoon fed by his party members back home, claimed that the paramilitary police also arbitrarily arrested, beat up and handcuffed a Journalist from one of the country’s radio stations, FM 98.1 who was covering the scene of the brutal beating of the opposition leader.

The letter was copied to a number of high profile personalities in the United States of America. Personalities such as H.E Eugene-Richard GASANA, Chairman of the United Nations Peace building Commission, Office of Congressman Donald M.Payne(D-NJ-10), a friend of Dr. Abass Bundu and others. What sounds ridiculous and a sign of provocation is the sympathy extended to the FM 98.1 Journalist by the SLPP Regional Chairman, when his party is very notorious for beating up Journalists in the country and detaining them in custody. It is unfortunate that Boss Fallay did not mention how a group of Journalists were beaten up in Kenema, Freetown and in Bo by some SLPP thugs with no regret and apology from the party till date.

Other issues raise in Augustine Boss Fallay’s letter is the release of the Shear-Moses Report and the replacement of long serving members of the Human Rights Commission who are sympathetic to the opposition by a group of other qualified and non-partisan Sierra Leoneans

Mr. Fallay described Mr. Lansana Fadika as a ruling party thug who was stabbed on the leg “The still unidentified assailant allegedly stabbed the leader of the ruling party thugs, Mr. Lansana Fadika, in the leg” (See letter)
