I Love Sierra Leone: …Dr. Agyepong

He was moved by current developments that have turned the country into a workshop, with every corner something is seen done, either on road construction or repairs of public institution. At the Lungi International Airport, Dr. Agyepong was greeted with the massive transformation of the facility, which was not so some four years back when he paid an initial visit to the country. “President Koroma is working hard to change the face of his country” were the words spoken, after taking a tour of the infrastructure at the port, before entering a standby jeep that took him to Targrin to board the Nassit Ferry.

Dr. Joseph Agyepong and team were leaving the Freetown International Airport in Lungi for the Parking lot. He was led by Sheik Dauda Fofanah, Personal Assistant (PA) to the Minister of Information

Onboard the Ferry, he spent the entire journey outside his VIP Lounge, enjoying the generosity of nature as the Ferry Boat pampers him and other passengers onboard for the city. At the Government Wharf, Dr. Joseph K.S.Agyepong was greeted by a cross section of Ghanaian nationals who were eagerly awaiting his arrival as news has gone wide about his visit to Sierra Leone. The Minister of Information and Communication, Hon. Ibrahim Ben Kargbo stood by and Mr. Victor Bockarie Foh and some other government functionaries when Dr. Agyepong came out of the Ferry Boat led by the Minister’s Personal Assistant, Sheik Dauda Fofanah who has been very instrumental in putting mechanism in place for Dr. Agyepong’s visit.

After hugging and shaking of hands and wishes of good stay, though brief, Hon. Ibrahim Kargbo led the convoy to the Bintumani Hotel, where he spent the night on Sunday and ready for meetings with government officials on Monday this week.

On Monday, 20th February, 2012, Dr. Agyepong left his Hotel suite with his team members including his Deputy and Project Manager Mr. Lawrence Labi for the Ministry of Information and Communication to hold discussions with the Minister and top Officials. Sources say after the morning meeting, the team including Hon. I.B.Kargbo left for State House to meet with President Koroma.

At State House, a meeting an over two- hour meeting was held with the Minister of Local Government, Hon. Dauda Kamara, Hon. Kargbo and some other Cabinet Members. State House sources say, the over two- hour-discussion centered on national developments and strategies to enhance the development agenda of President Koroma.

Dr. Joseph K.S. Agyepong did not hide his feeling, when giving the opportunity to speak. He spoke about the love he has for Sierra Leone and how Africa as a whole can develop rapidly if all and sundry put their hands on deck with the same focus and determination. “Sierra Leone can develop more than what we are seeing now and I am ready and prepared to contribute to the development aspiration of the President and people of this country if giving the opportunity to do so” He told the gathering of Ministers and President Koroma.

The Ghanaian businessman, Dr. Joseph Agyepong is involved in multi-dimensional projects ranging from Construction, Banking, Transportation, Petroleum, and Telecommunication, Printing to Waste Management and more. He is a major shareholder of the Ghana Gold Reserves, with a business empire that spans from Ghana, Liberia, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Dubai, China to Britain. He leaves Sierra Leone today
