SLPP DUMPS Usman Boie Kamara!

(Culled from the Party’s website and published verbatim)

Months of speculations and counter speculations about Usu Boie’s true intentions after losing the SLPP leadership contest to retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio has finally come to a climatic end. Boie is expelled from the SLPP Party! The Party finally mustered the strength to expel Boie from their rank with immediate effect.  Reasons abound, but it is Usu Boie’s activities and statements from the day he lost the election to his expulsion that have been counter-productive to the peace and harmony the party needs to build upon the many positive achievements on the way to victory in November.

Usu Boie violated both the spirit and intent of the agreement that aspirants signed to accept the outcome of the delegates’ conference which produced the SLPP 2012 Presidential candidate.  In the spirit of that agreement, Usu Boie did constitute a committee headed by Pa Morlai Bai Kamara to meet with and discuss with other Aspirants Boie’s intentions to work with any aspirant that wins the elections.  Through this committee, Boie equally solicited the support and cooperation of colleague aspirants should he emerge the winner.  Every aspirant, including our Presidential candidate, met with the Boie team.  In retrospect, this was a deceitful ploy by Boie to garner support built on false hopes and assumptions.

In the wake of theatrical defections from the SLPP to APC, the move by the SLPP executive to expel Usu Boie is a commendable show of leadership that sends a clear message. While our dynamic quest for a democratic resolution within our internal ranks is perceived falsely by our opponents, any attempt, by an individual or a group of people to undermine the unity of our party must be decisively arrested and put to rest.  It is the only way we will match as a unified force to victory in November.  With so much at stake for Sierra Leone, individual ambitions must evolve within the collective aspiration of the party.
