A Nine month old baby Girl, whose name is still unknown has been allegedly thrown into a palm oil bowl by her own mother, Isatu Kargbo at the Shenge Market in Bo recently. According to John Abdulai Bangura of the Ministry of social welfare, Gender and Children’s affairs attached to the Family Support Unit, Bo Police Station has explained that the mother of the baby girl is a Business woman, who arrived in Bo from Makeni.
Eye witness accounts claimed that immediately, the lady alighted from a public vehicle, she claimed madness. She reportedly removed her baby from her back and allegedly threw her into a palm oil seller’s bowl, which was full of palm oil and ran away. The baby was immediately removed with her entire body painted red with palm oil.
The baby was later taken to the office of the Sierra Leone Traders Union at the Bo Central Market, where advised was given to take the baby to the Family Support Unit of Bo Police Station. At the FSU, the Police Social Welfare Officer handed over the baby to Matta Ernest to be produced the following day, which instruction she complied with.
Up to press time this medium has learnt that the Social Welfare Ministry in Bo has handed over the baby to the mother, who later showed up to collect her baby. The Mother, Isatu Kargbo, whose address according to an official document is 18, Regbaneh Road.
