The widow of the late Chief Lamin Dumbuya of Sanda Loko Chiefdom is still wanted for breaching the tradition law. The law declares that upon the chief’s deceased, she, Zainab Dumbuya must remarry his male relative. She has broken the law by not announcing her presence in Sierra Leone to the chiefdom. The law serves as a means for governing the tribe, through stating the roles of men and women. It aims to maintain order, and prevent mischief.
Hence her refusal shows great disregard for the law and the tribe. The late Chief’s brother, Hassan Dumbuya, along with the chiefdom advisors believe that she is currently in Sierra Leone but is refusing to honour the law. They say that they are willing to give monetary reward to anyone with information about Zainab’s whereabouts.
