Dr. Samura Kamara donates over 1, 500 bags of rice …COVID 19 Ramadan Support to mosques and communities

Dr. Samura Matthew Wilson Kamara who contested the 2018 elections under the APC ticket as Presidential Frontrunner, continues to demonstrate a great compassionate spirit for particular poor individuals and communities across Sierra Leone. Although the times for politics are over, he prides himself to be a great philanthropist that deep his hands into his pocket to provide whatever little to particularly the poor. Under the Dr. Samura M.W. Kamara Foundation, the distribution of over 1, 500 bags of rice together with other items like Veronica Buckets and face masks to various Mosques and distressed communities across Sierra Leone will Tuesday 12th May 2020 commence.  The items, which cost over Le200 million, are provided by the 2018 All People’s Congress Party (APC) Flagbearer as continuous process of what he started few years back. It is now a tradition for the Philanthropist to provide food items and other supports as a kind gesture to the Muslim Community during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The donations, which started with 100 bags of rice has kept increasing unto over 1, 500 bags of rice this year.

He informed Journalists on Tuesday that during these trying times as a result of the COVID 19, he realized that most people are faced with hunger as a common major challenge in communities. “The donation is not about showing-off but rather it is a goodwill gesture to poor households. I am not doing it for politics but to share with others in need,” he said and furthered that he has the love for people in his heart and would want to see that they get the required support during difficult times. “This little gesture is going towards the realization that Ramadan is hear and at the same time COVID 19 is around us,” he said and added that big intention is not enough but the motive behind it is very important. “We need to be resilient in fighting against the COVID 19 and ensure that peace and stability be maintained,” Dr. Samura Kamara said.

The humanitarian endeavour that is been highly acclaimed by Sierra Leoneans will be distributed to 25 mosques in the Western Area and 25 distressed communities (slum areas), affiliated groups, District Officers in all 14 Districts, Support Groups like the disabled, taskforce, party executives etc.

Dr. Samura Kamara called for good policies to fight against the COVID 19, and opined that the inter-district lockdown sgould be relaxed to enable the movement of goods and services like agricultural equipment for the planting season.
