VP SUMANA BAGS “LION SHARE”…depriving his people and voters

sam houseIt is very much clear now that what is meant for the ordinary people of Sierra Leone is now being found in the private homes of some key stakeholders of Sierra Leone including the Vice President, Alhaji Chief Sam Sumana, who has taken the lead in depriving his Kono people.

Investigation mounted by this medium has revealed that the Vice President Chief Alhaji Sam Sumana has secured an unbeatable lead on the list of solar light beneficiaries in the Kono District, which is meant for the Citizenry and not for private individuals or politicians. Pictures of his Compound have defeated the protracted arguments about how the solar lights were distributed and how many of the lights found there way to his residence and the Minister of Local Government and a handful of politicians of the Kono District.

Interviews conducted and responses obtained from various interviewers including the Chairman of the Committee on Energy and Power, Councilor Alhaji Fofanah of Ward 64 in Kono has disclosed that Mr. Alhaji Sam Sumana requested the Committee to installed about 20 solar street lights on his private compound in Kono, but because the poles were not sufficient, the installers managed to install nine (9) poles on his private compound, which most residents claimed was done under duress. “Because we were intimidated and arm-twisted to install that quantum of solar lights meant for the public on the vast Compound of the Vice President, we thought that we should make up by installing few in the Private Compounds of other politicians for us not to be seen to be bias, the Councilor explains. In that vein, we decided to install two on the house of Paramount Chief, Paul Garba Saquee of Tankoro Chiefdom, two on the Compound of PC Kaimachende of Gbense Chiefdom and two on the Compound of Diana Konomanyi, the Minister of Local Government he stated.

Unfortunately, when news about the solar lights broke out and how it was grabbed by politicians, few names surfaced and fingers were pointed at the Minister of Local Government, Diana Konomani and PC Saquee leaving out the Vice President whose Compound had nine of the lights installed.

It would be recalled that the Minister of Local Government, Ms.Diana Konomani claimed that she only came to know about the installation of two solar street light poles on her Private residence at Hill Station, in Koidu City when she accompanied Balogun Koroma to Koidu on his maiden visit after being appointed Minister of Transport and Aviation. Whether that was so is now left to be determined by the public they all claimed to represent.

“I was shocked when I saw the two poles in my compound… I straight away enquired and was told that they were installed on my Compound by some Indian guys” She claimed and went on “I immediately sent for them and instructed that they should be removed immediately from my compound” She added.

Up to press time effort by Standard Times Reporters to get the side of the Vice President who received the lion share of the solar lights has proved futile.

The investigation further revealed that the Ministry of Energy and Power was deeply involved in the political patronage of the distribution process, thus creating embarrassment for most of the Politicians and Paramount Chiefs in the Provinces.

At the usual Government Press Conference held at the Ministry of Information and Communication, the Minister of Energy and Power has said that he was not aware of the installation of solar lights on the premises of politicians including the Vice President and Government Ministers. “I am not aware about the installation and also not aware of their removal” Minister Coker remarked.
