At a well attended meeting held at 14 Combema Road in Kenema on Sunday 7th August 2011, defendants of the Tunkia Chiefdom in Kenema are accusing PC Amara Gowai Sama, Chiefdom Speaker Alhaji Sheku Kanneh and members of the Chiefdom Council of corruption and allegedly entering into a lease agreement with three different parties for iron ore mining in the Bagla Hills without the consent of the legitimate land owners.

Leader of the aggrieved Descendants of Tunkia, Mr. Musa Taimeh claimed that the Paramount Chief and other authorities have leased the Bagla Hills that has huge deposits of Iron Ore to various Companies with financial benefits provided only to the Chief and few individuals who are literate around him leaving the masses to live in abject poverty, bad roads, poor health condition and inadequate educational facilities. He revealed that even though the government has banned mining of Iron Ore in the Bagla Hills as it is in the Gola Forest Reserves, PC Gowai and his Chiefdom Council Members have gone ahead to enter into a- fifty- year lease agreement with Companies . Musa Taimeh and his colleagues Alfred Williams and Mohamed Mansaray referred to the Paramount Chief and his Chiefdom Council members as dishonest people for forging the signatures of most of those who were said to have signed the agreements with one Stephen Coser and the Red Rock mining. The Bagla Hill which is about 52km from Kenema, south east of Sierra Leone has historical resource deposit estimate of 838metric tones at 32 percent of ore ,forming a continuation of long –known western cluster iron ore deposit across the border with Liberia represented by Mano river , Bomi Hills and mountain. Investigation has revealed that the Paramount Chief, Chiefdom Council Members and land owning families entered into a- fifty- year lease agreement in 2008 with one Jacob Barnett who could not start any mining activity as a result of government ban on mining activities on the hills.

The Paramount Chief, Amara Gowai Sama and some other stakeholders on 20th December2010 entered into another agreement with one Stephen Coser of 115 Eaton Square in London and allegedly forged the signatures of land owners who have now come out to either deny knowledge of such agreement or deny understanding the content of what they signed. The third agreement was between Red Rock Mining Sierra Leone Limited on 16th Feb. 2011.
